Facebook Challenges YouTube Channels With New Features For Pages

Facebook Challenges YouTube Channels With New Features For Pages Posted  yesterday  by  Josh Constine   ( @joshconstine ) 4,420 SHARES Next Story Twitter’s not the only one Facebook is battling for control of news and content distribution. With  Pages getting quieted down in the feed , Facebook wants to make its home for businesses less like a newspaper that come to you and more like TV channels you turn on. That’s why it’s YouTube that’s getting flattered by the social network with a  new design for the Video section of Facebook Pages . All businesses will soon be able to choose a featured video to be displayed extra-large with a live comment feed atop their Page, and cobble together playlists of more of their videos. This makes the Videos tabs of Pages look and feel a lot like YouTube Channels. TechCrunch spotted the new design and features on  ABC News’ Page , and the company confirms it testing the format with a handful of Pages, and plans to roll it

Microsoft Removes All Third Party Snapchat Apps From The Windows Phone Store

Microsoft Removes All Third Party Snapchat Apps From The Windows Phone Store Posted  Dec 21, 2014  by  Jon Russell   ( @jonrussell ) 730 SHARES Next Story Snapchat confirmed in November  that it would crack down on all third party apps, and now the ax has fallen on the Windows Phone app store, which no longer contains any third party apps as  Windows Central reports . The U.S. company doesn’t have an official app for Windows Phone, so that means anyone who owns a phone running the Microsoft OS can’t download a Snapchat compatible app. Those that already have one — such as 6snap, the most popular option — are also having their accounts locked for using a third-party app. That’s another security measure that Snapchat promised last month to implement. Maybe that’s why  Sony released “The Interview” on Christmas Day . That controversial flick will set you back $6 to rent or $12 to buy ( unless you join the legions torrenting it ), but the folks at Popcorn Time believe you should be able to watch what you like for free — and now they adding a VPN to  the streaming service which is Hollywood’s worst nightmare . It uses unlicensed torrents on the internet for content, which naturally raises a gamut of legal issues.  The original service closed down earlier this year in response to those quest

OPTIMIZATION TIPS Most successful ad sizes NEXT: MAXIMIZE AD SPACE WITH MULTIPLE AD UNITS As a rule of thumb, wider ad sizes tend to outperform their taller counterparts, due to their reader-friendly format. Readers absorb information in "thought units," several words at a time. Wider sizes let them comfortably read more text at a glance without having to skip a line and return to the left margin every few words, as they'd have to with a narrower ad. If positioned well, wide ad sizes can increase your earnings significantly. The sizes we've found to be the most effective are the  336x280 large rectangle , the  300x250 medium rectangle , the  728x90 leaderboard , the  300x600 half page , and on mobile the  320x100 large mobile banner . Keep in mind that while these ad sizes typically perform well, you should use the size that best complements your pages. For more information about these ad sizes, see our  guide to ad sizes . It's better to add one
