youtube history
three former PayPal employees – Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim – got together and decided on a name: YouTube. As Karim later explained in an early re-telling of YouTube's history, "the work began" on YouTube on Feb. 14, 2005.
Original Concept: YouTube was registered on Valentine’s Day (February 14), 2005, as a dating service with the slogan "Tune in, Hook up". Users were meant to upload videos introducing themselves and describing their ideal partner.
It didn’t give you the option to select videos—instead, it chose them at random. The server used to host the videos cost $100 a month.
“We didn’t have any videos. Realizing videos of anything would be better than no videos, I populated our new dating site with videos of 747s taking off and landing,” Karim said. “The whole thing didn’t make any sense. We were so desperate for some actual dating videos, whatever that even means, that we turned to the website any desperate person would turn to, Craigslist.”
By April 2005, the dating idea was failing—virtually no one had uploaded any dating videos, even after the founders offered women $20 via Craigslist in Las Vegas and Los Angeles to do so.
No one took them up on that offer either, according to the YouTube founders.

Text Comments YouTube is concept not that new. Sopme ten years ago my idea was to launch a page where everybody (the ordinary humans)could leave their imprints, but this venture is of course reserved to those much more powerfull thasn I am.
However, it's entertaining that we have it no matter who's behind it.
Pitfalls:
One problem is that One waste's a lot of time searching for the official concerts for example, for you can't tell on the title if a video or a concerts is original or amateur.
