 Depression is a diagnosable mental health condition characterised by persistent feeling of sadness.  Loneliness is a subjective feeling of isolation where our levels of social contact are not as frequent as we want them to be. When a person is lonely and doesn’t take steps to address it, it can increase the likelihood of them experiencing depression and other mental health problems.  When it comes to loneliness, a person will typically feel alone when the relationships in their life lack the intensity, intimacy and authenticity that they need to feel content.  If you've been feeling lonely and isolated, know that it is something you can work to minimise.
